  3. Your location information is used in the beacon
  4. message and mail signature.
  5.  
  6. The beacon message is a short bit of text that your
  7. station transmits periodically to let other stations
  8. know where you are and that you are switched on should
  9. they wish to contact you.
  10.  
  11. The mail signature is a short piece of text that is
  12. appended to your mail messages automatically. The
  13. signature when produced by this program will include
  14. details of your location, IP address, and mail
  15. information but you may wish to "tart" it up a bit
  16. (not too much as it wastes air time). Your signature
  17. is found in the PCELM\<callsign>.SIG directory, off
  18. your NOS installation path. PLEASE REMEMBER that
  19. although those graphics look great on your computer,
  20. they may look like a mess of spaghetti on the guys
  21. screen down the road because he's using an Apple Mac
  22. or an Amiga, so keep it simple!!!

  24. You should keep the location information as concise
  25. as possible. For example;

  27.        Northaw, Hertfordshire, UK
  28.  
  29. is where I live.  Northaw is a village in
  30. Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.  Abbreviations
  31. are a good idea if they are standard and recognised
  32. WORLD WIDE.
